You need to:
- Decide upfront which role you'll play this season. That saves time you'd otherwise waste switching from role to role.
- Pick a backup role you'll get forced into much less often than your main.
- In every game, try to play your main role. Swap in draft so you end up on your primary. Play party games with people on your role so matchmaking learns your preference and gives you that role more often.
- Lock in a hero pool — three heroes max — useful, high-impact heroes you enjoy and actually want to play.
- In the first month of the season, focus on points 1–4 while playing and improving. Watch the minimap constantly — that's key to getting better. You need to know where enemies are, especially the jungler.
Play for objectives. Wins don't go to whoever gets 100 kills — they go to whoever destroys the enemy throne. - Start reviewing your replays. For how to watch replays and why it matters, read here: How to Watch Your Replays. Also watch skilled players' games. Try to understand how they think, what they do, and why.
- In the first month, just play — don't fixate on your teammates. Focus entirely on your own game. You're the only one you can control. Practice the minimap, read the game, review replays, remember your mistakes, and don't repeat them.
- Games can still be won even with 1–2 teammates who feed. That's not a blocker. Your job is to perform as well as you can.
- Your mental state has a huge impact on your level of play. Tilting, getting nervous about teammates' or your own mistakes, or strong enemies — all of this leads to lost games.
- Stay calm and calculated. Your goal is to destroy the throne.
