From my personal experience in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
I did not come into the game with zero MOBA experience. Roughly half the match I look at the minimap — and I still forget to check it at the critical moments.
You glance at the map: teammates are nearby, so you start a fight — but they are already somewhere else: one is pushing a lane, another is farming jungle. You end up in the fountain when you could have avoided it.
That is why you should watch the minimap from the very start. Roam should check which buff the enemy jungler is taking to read the next rotation: most likely they will gank from the opposite side of the map around the 2-minute mark.
When you know where enemies are, you can push a tower more safely, break a lane, and take Turtle or Lord with your team.
Yesterday I went in because I saw teammates nearby. I started the fight — and they suddenly took the enemy blue buff. I died, the team could not win the fight without me, and we lost a game we were dominating and could have closed. Minus one star only because I did not check the minimap again. Another player might blame teammates, but I know the loss was my mistake — I did not re-check the map.
