Roles in MOBA Games

A MOBA team usually has five roles: two supports, a solo laner, a mid laner, and a jungler. Some maps also have a marksman (carry) who farms gold to deal most of the damage in the late game.

Both supports help the jungler with kills, towers, and objectives — the early game often depends on how this trio plays.

The solo laner usually faces the enemy solo laner 1v1 — their own lane, their own pace.

The mid laner holds the center, helps early, and often sets the team's tempo.

The jungler matters in every phase: usually high damage but low survivability — rotations and map control define the role.

The marksman (when in the roster) farms gold to become the main damage source in the late game.

1. Full support — Roam. Full support role. Maximum help for the team: your own items are secondary. You stay useful at every stage of the game. Your job is constant team support.

2. Partial support — Mid. The second support on the team. Clear the mid wave and help other lanes — alone or with Roam. Often Mid / Roam / Jungle play as a trio for the whole match to carry the team to a win.

3. Solo laner — EXP. The experience lane. Usually fighters: they lane 1v1, teammates visit less often, and they spend a lot of time on their own side. But if Turtle or Lord spawns nearby, it is better to help the team.

4. Jungler — Jungle. In my opinion, the hardest role. The jungler sets the pace of the game and carries a huge share of win responsibility: gank timing, tower pressure, securing Turtle and Lord, and closing the match.

5. Marksman — Gold (ADC). The second hardest role. The most important part is a clean early game and aiming for zero deaths. In mid and late game you deal the highest damage to enemies. Just do not stand still and hit a tank or jungler in the face.
